Life in a HumveeMoving forward on foot (early, cold, and miserable morning)Car was not lucky but people inside were fineAfter securing a block trying to make parking for a HumveeISIS marks on the wall indicate that the neighborhood was cleaned from satellite dishes. This street was just retaken from ISIS (and it seemed that they left – no more incoming fire)Stuff found in a suicide carThis thing is sooo heavy – poor roadsClearing the house where there is/was a sniper. They did not find the sniper, but found their equipmentConvoy is stopped because on the next crossroad there is a very active sniper. So while the first car is trying to do something about it we are parked.Friendly civilians (at some point we had to look for cover in their house). The first thing they said was “do not take a picture with this stupid beard” and asked if we had cigarettes (smoking was not allowed by ISIS). They haven’t left the house for the past 2 weeks during the fighting and told us that ISIS fighters who are now fighting against us on their street are Russian speakers – from Tajikistan and Kazakhstan (and one Syrian)
